Congratulations on choosing to embark on your Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award with Auckland Challenge! To find out how to get started with your Award follow the steps below. The registration process is set up in two parts, registration and payment. You will need to complete both parts or your registration will not be approved.

Registration

  1. Visit www.onlinerecordbook.org
  2. Click register as a new participant
  3. Your Award Unit is “Auckland Challenge Inc” *
  4. Your Award Leader’s email is “kathryn@aucklandchallenge.org.nz
  5. Choose the Award Level you wish to register for then follow through the registration form
    • Make sure you use an email address you check regularly. Important information and updates will be sent to the address you enter
  6. Select “Pay Award Leader or Unit”
  7. You will need to confirm your Email address, and if you are under 18 your guardian will need to click a link in their email as well

Payment

Once you have created an account on the Online Record Book you can pay for your registration on this page, you can opt to pay via Bank Transfer or Credit/Debit card (3.5% surcharge). Once your payment has cleared we can approve your registration.
Please note: Registration approval is a manual process and may take up to three business days

Award Management Fee

From 1 April 2025 Auckland Challenge will be introducing an annual Award management fee due to rising costs and in line with guidance from the Award’s National office. This will be a yearly fee of $30 at the anniversary of your Award registration for any in-progress Awards. The first year’s fee is included in your registration, this means if you sign up on the 1/4/2025, you will be charged the first yearly fee on the 1/4/2026. Charges cover a full year, so you will not be charged for the next year if you complete your level or withdraw before the anniversary of your registration. This fee applies to participants who register with, or transfer into Auckland Challenge. For participants who transfer in, the fee will apply on the anniversary of your Award start date, not the date you transfer.

Auckland Challenge may waive this fee for certain participants at our discretion.

Once you have registered and paid there are some steps you can take to ensure your Award gets off to a smooth start.

  • Schedule a meeting with Auckland Challenge to discuss setting up your Award and get your questions answered
  • Complete your Bronze Adventurous Journey Training online through ACORN: https://acorn.aucklandchallenge.org.nz

A note on Award Units

The following units are operated by Auckland Challenge and can be enrolled in by following these steps

  • Auckland Challenge Inc
  • ACI | Kaipara College
  • ACI | Rosmini College
  • ACI | Marist College

Please do not enrol in units ending in “| SPORTNZ / MYD / FN / FF” unless previously discussed with one of our leaders. 

For Home Schooled Participants

Your Award Unit is Auckland Challenge Inc. DO NOT enrol in another Award Unit unless you have previously spoken to an Award Leader.
Auckland Challenge does NOT operate the “Home School Co-op” Award Unit and your registration will not be approved.

Level

Bronze, Silver, Gold

From the 1st of April 2025, all new Award registrations will now be charged a $30 yearly admin fee due to rising costs. This will be charged yearly on the aniversary of your registration until your Award is complete. This fee will not apply to existing Awards.
