Kia ora Duke of Ed Award Seekers,
Quick heads‑up about logging in ORB – this bit really matters for getting your Award signed off.
✅ The basics you need:
1️⃣ A SMART goal Each section needs a clear SMART goal that shows what you’re working towards.
2️⃣ Log the activity you actually chose (one activity = one section + one goal) Every different activity needs its own setup.
👉 Each section = one activity + one SMART goal 👉 If your Physical is football, your logs must be about football and linked to a football goal 👉 If you also do gymnastics, that needs a separate activity setup and a different goal 🚫 Don’t mix different activities into one section
3️⃣ Logs don’t need to be long – just descriptive One‑liners like “played a game” or “went for a run” aren’t enough, but you don’t need to write essays either.
A good log quickly covers:
- how long you did it for
- where you were
- what you actually did
- anything tricky, new, or worth mentioning
- how it links back to your goal
Important – please check your logs now If your current logs don’t meet these points, you need to edit them now. Logs that are too vague or don’t clearly link to your goal will not be approved by National.
If you’re unsure whether your logs are detailed enough, don’t guess – email us or book a meeting and we’ll help you get them right.
Logging isn’t just about hours – it’s how you show your progress. Clear, detailed logs help your Award Leader and Assessor understand what you’ve done and approve your Award.
