Hi everyone,
We need to clarify an important requirement around your Adventurous Journey planning in Auckland Challenge.
All journeys must be approved in the ORB before they take place. If your journey has not been approved in the ORB, it is not approved for the Award and cannot be counted.
There are two ways to complete your journey:
- With an approved provider
- As a Plan Your Own Journey (Auckland Challenge participants only)
If you are choosing a Plan Your Own Journey, please be aware that this is not something you can simply go and do. There are specific requirements that need to be met, and all journeys must follow the health and safety standards set out by the Award and Auckland Challenge.
As with all activities on the ORB, please talk to us about your plans before you go ahead. The Award is your individual journey, and we love seeing your ideas, but it also needs to meet the programme requirements to count. There is always the possibility that a journey may not meet the requirements — if that happens, we will work with you to help get it to a point where it can be approved.
For Plan Your Own Journeys, all required paperwork must be completed in full using the templates available on ACORN, and uploaded to your ORB submission.
This includes:
- Completing all required planning documents
- Ensuring your journey meets programme requirements
- Uploading all paperwork into the ORB
- Submitting your journey for approval before the journey takes place
Your journey plan must be uploaded and approved before you start your journey, so please allow enough time for review and any required changes.
A reminder that the Adventurous Journey is not a holiday. It is a purposeful, structured part of your Award designed to develop skills such as teamwork, planning, and resilience.
