DESCRIPTION:This journey is run by the New Zealand Sailing TrustFive unforgettable days\, one legendary yacht. Set sail across the stunning Hauraki Gulf and explore the wild beauty of coastal Aotearoa. Along the way\, students build confidence\, stretch their comfort zones\, and experience the kind of adventure that stays with them for life. This journey also counts toward the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award—whether it’s Bronze or Silver qualifying\, or Gold practice or residential\, but this is optional. \n\n\n\nExperience sailing\, hands on. \n\n\n\nLearn the ropes – literally. Students get stuck-in with hoisting sails\, steering the helm\, and understanding how a yacht runs smoothly as a team.Joining Details \n\n\n\nWhere to meet – Please meet at the Explore Kiosk (220 Quay Street) in the Viaduct at 0900 SHARP on day of departure . A crew member will collect you and take you to the yacht. \n\n\n\nHow to get there \n\n\n\nIf driving – the best place to park is the downtown carpark \n\n\n\nIf coming from the airport – the SkyDrive bus\, departing every 30 minutes and the duration is approx 40 minutes depending on traffic \n\n\n\nIf by train – disembark at Britomart and walk 10 minutes to the Viaduct \n\n\n\nWhat to wear – Wet weather gear for the boats is provided (and lifejackets which must be worn).
