[FULL] Auckland Sea Kayaks Bronze Journey*

December 15 @ 8:00 am December 16 @ 5:00 pm

$178 – $278

Auckland Challenge participants and participants in Auckland Challenge managed Award Units are eligible for a $100 discount off the standard $278 price when booking through the below link

Your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous journey is your first adventurous journey. Auckland Sea Kayaks has set up our program to maximise what you learn in the time over a weekend. We utilize the regional parks around the Hauraki Gulf to teach participants how to camp, navigate, and cook in the field while also enjoying activities such as tramping, paddle boarding or kayaking.

We have combined the Bronze training with the practice journey as we understand the importance of learning by doing. Pitching a tent or learning how to cook outdoors behind a computer screen is challenging, so why not actually do them.

This journey explores the waters and land around Mahurangi. If you want to complete the Duke of Edinburgh training theory in a unique and interesting way, while learning about camp craft, navigation, environmental care, hiking and kayaking in the great outdoors, then this is the journey for you.

All watersports equipment provided. Also provided is all the camping gear (tent, sleeping pad) as well as cook sets (cooker, gas, plates, pots, cutlery, cleaning kits, cups) for this trip. If you require sleeping bags we can rent this at $15 per person.

Pre-work: 1 hr online meeting

Meet day 1: 10 am Sullivans Bay, Mahurangi

Night 1: Te Muri Camp site

Finish day 2: 2.30 pm Sullivans Bay, Mahurangi. We return to Auckland Sea Kayaks office  3.30 pm if you have requested transport.

Fitting journeys into your Award

The Adventurous Journey section has three components: Training, Practice, and Qualifying.

  • Training: This is covered on the journey
  • This journey can be used for either a Bronze Practice journey OR Qualifying Journey
  • At until the 31st of December it is possible for us to waive the requirement to do a Practice Journey.

We recommend using this journey for a Qualifying and having your Practice journey waived so you only need to do one journey at Bronze.

PAYMENT INFO: When enrolling in an Auckland Sea Kayaks partner Journey you will enrol directly through the Auckland Sea Kayaks booking form, no payment will be charged at the time of enrolment.
