Kia ora,
Thank you for all the time and effort you're putting into your Award. We want to make sure every hour you log counts, so here's a quick tip on something that's easy to mix up.
Sometimes several activities end up grouped together under one entry in the Online Record Book, sharing one goal and one assessor. Because an assessor can only sign off on the activity they've seen you doing, these need to be set up separately before they can be approved.
It's an easy mistake to make, and it's simple to fix. Here's how.
What this means
1
activity
1
goal
1
assessor
Each activity you do needs to be set up on its own in your Online Record Book (ORB), with its own goal written for that activity, and its own assessor who has seen you doing it.
Here's an example
Say you're doing walking, soccer and skiing for your Physical Recreation section. You can't put all three under one activity called "Physical" with a single goal and a single assessor. Each one needs to be set up as its own activity:
Walking
A walking goal and a walking assessor
Soccer
A soccer goal and an assessor like your coach
Skiing
A skiing goal and an assessor like your instructor
Why it matters
Your assessor confirms you've put in the time and worked towards your goal. Your soccer coach can do that for soccer, but not for skiing. Keeping activities separate means the right person signs off on the right thing.
Who can be your assessor?
✓
An adult who knows the activitySomeone with skills, experience or qualifications, like a coach, instructor or tutor
✓
Not a family memberThis includes parents and extended family
✓
Someone who sees you doing itAt least once every four weeks
We're here to help
Next time you're in your ORB, have a look at your activities. If each one has its own goal and assessor, you're all set.
If something doesn't look right, or you're not sure, please get in touch with your Award Leader. They'll happily go through it with you, and it's no problem if you've already logged hours.
Parents and caregivers, you're very welcome to get in touch too.
Keep up the great work. We love seeing what you're achieving.
